Over the past 30 years, the Dave Miller Trio has played publicly and privately throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as at special out-of-state engagements, including shows for private events held in the Rainbow Room and the Ellis Island Museum in New York City.
For the past ten years the trio has consisted of Dave Miller (pianist and band leader), Mario Suraci (bass) and Bill Belasco (drums). This ensemble has recorded four CD’s, three in their standard trio format and one with vocalist Rebecca DuMaine.
Dave Miller and Bill Belasco have been together since the early 1970′s as each was beginning his career in San Francisco. Originally they teamed with bassist Martin Clevinger. That ensemble performed throughout the region for more than 20 years and recorded CD’s in 1998 and 2001. When Martin decided to pursue production of his renowned Clevinger Bass on a full time basis in 2002, Dave was able to lure world renowned bassist Mario Suraci to the trio.
The Dave Miller Trio often performs at private social events, as well as at charitable and civic events. Dave has played for the US Senate Democratic caucus retreats on several occasions and the trio regularly is engaged to provide entertainment at political events.
Strongly influenced by pianists such as George Shearing, Bill Evans and Nat King Cole, the repertoire of the trio is a versatile one. In addition to the American songbook, traditional jazz in bebop and Latin styles are featured strongly.
